Green Industries Best Management Practices Save Water, Save Money

Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMPs) are a science-based educational program for lawn care and landscape maintenance professionals. The GI-BMP program teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters through in-person, online, and DVD training. They can also save Florida homeowners money, time, and effort, increase the beauty of the home landscape, and protect the health of families, pets, and the environment. In 2014, a GI-BMP training class was held in Okeechobee County. Since then, the certification of 245 applicators through GI-BMP has resulted in an estimated total economic value of $1,568,000 for these trained professionals.
