A large part of selling any product is the way it is marketed to consumers. In 2014, UF/IFAS Extension in Hamilton County helped a group of four producers at four farms sell their cattle using an alternative marketing option. The cattle producers sold 2,000 head of cattle and received an average of 3 cents/pound above market price. This totals an economic impact of $48,000. Three of those beef cattle producers have continued the back grounding/stocker program during 2014, selling their cattle through this group marketing method. This is just one of the many ways UF/IFAS Extension is bringing the resources of the University of Florida to Hamilton County.
