Located in the heart of cattle country, in Ona, Hardee County, the UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center has long been dedicated to conducting research and teaching programs that solve problems related to improving beef profitability, forage and field crops, and dairy production in central and south Florida. In 2016, the Range Cattle REC celebrated its 75th anniversary. The center’s field laboratory resources are unique, and include more than 1,200 head of cattle grazing both improved and native pastures. In addition to finding applicable solutions to real-world problems, the Range Cattle REC is also committed to training students who are interested in pursuing career opportunities in livestock and forage production. In this UF/IFAS video, several members of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association talk about the many ways the RCREC has helped them in their business.
